I believe all patented inventions should be novel. Most of you will agree that awarding patent to a non-original invention amounts to gross violation of the intellectual property rights. I was pleased to know that the latest Community Patent Project aims to design and pilot an online system for peer review of patents. New York Law School will host the effort sponsored by IBM. The Community Patent system will support a network of experts to advise the Patent Office and assist it with patentability determinations.
